On Friday 20th March our Year 3 and Year 4's played friendly football fixtures against Meadow Primary School. The friendly games give the children a taste of competitive sport all whilst having fun. The Year 4 team played brilliantly and came away 9 - 3 winners, much to the delight of all the players. Credit has to go to Meadow as they never gave up and there was some really good football on show. In the other game, the score finished 8 - 0 to Meadow. Despite the loss the Red Oak team fought till the end against a very good Meadow side. Once again everyone involved had a great afternoon and both schools can be proud of the children for their excellent behaviour and sportsmanship.

Check out the video below to see action from the Year 4's game, where Red Oak's striker thunders an effort against the bar!

On the 12th March the first ever Active Learning Trust Cup was held here at Red Oak Primary School. The schools taking part in the competition where Meadow Primary School and Grove Primary School, along with Red Oak. The schools brought an 'A' team and a 'B' each from KS1, which made for a brilliant afternoon of sport. The matches were played with big smiles on the children’s faces which was great to see, and there were even bigger smiles from the parents who filled our sports hall to watch the action. All schools involved should be proud of their children as the behaviour was brilliant all round, with some children this tournament was probably their first taste of competitive sport.

When it came to the results of the games Red Oak A and Grove A were level on 4 points each, so the winner was determined by each team's goal difference. Grove came out on top on this occasion and took home the winners medals. In the B teams games Grove came out as winners again, winning both there matches. Red Oak was close behind with 3 points after beating Meadow. All participating schools took home certificates and we look forward to hosting more Active Learning Trust Tournaments in the near future.
